24/02/2011 All of Western Europe at 5meter-resolution with buildings in XIRIO ONLINE.

Now it's possible to accurately check radio link line of sight (LOS) anywhere in Western Europe.

The recent agreement between APTICA and Intermap Technologies, a worldwide 3D digital mapping and geospatial solutions company, has resulted in two new high quality products included in XIRIO ONLINE, first internet-based professional radio planning tool in the market.

The application includes two cartography datasets - both are seamless with 5m/pixel resolution and available for all of Western Europe:
  • Digital terrain model (DTM): The DTM is an elevation dataset in which buildings, roads and vegetation canopy are digitally removed. It can be used for accurate calculations in broadcast, mobile and broadband access networks and provides the highest resolution and accuracy available in the market for large areas in Western Europe.
  • Digital surface model (DSM): The DSM contains all elevated elements such as buildings, vegetation, pylons, infrastructures, etc. It provides a base layer for analyzing the obstruction between fixed-service radio links in microwave bands or other high-frequency technologies.

XIRIO ONLINE includes the most accurate and updated propagation models, including recommendation ITU-R P.530-13 for radio link analysis and considering the ultimate technology improvements such as adaptive modulation or XPIC. This makes of XIRIO ONLINE, combined with Intermap cartography, a cost-effective, accurate and efficient solution for analyzing radio links in microwave bands.
