29/01/2014 New algorithms for advanced planning LTE.

The main difficulty in planning LTE compared with preceding systems lies in the use of mechanisms for automatic selection of modulation and codification (AMC), users scheduling and assignation of time-frequency resources, depending on the radio channel. All of them are closely related to the existence of rapid variations in the instantaneous channel attenuation produced by the phenomenon of multipath.

The technology provides at all times the most appropriate transmission format, increasing the throughput when the state of the channel allows it and reducing it when protect the information is necessary. It also fixes the users to which the base station is transmitting or the users allowed to transmit according to the instantaneous SINR for each user (radio channel condition) and the blocks of time-frequency resources assigned to each one.

APTICA, as part of an ambitious R&D project in collaboration with the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and with the help of the Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI), has developed a new simulation model for radio channel performance in different propagation environments and with different reception conditions (transmission rate, number of users, required traffic, etc.). This algorithm represents a great leap when it comes to simulating the actual performance of the LTE network and its scheduler gain.

Xirio Online incorporates this new model in the studies of LTE calculation and provides the user more accurate simulations in the short time.

Through this new evolution Xirio Online provides the user the best ways to design and evaluate the performance of their LTE networks in a real environment. The tool provides test results in as much detail:

  • Coverage of the reference signals from the base station.
  • Throughput traces of the LTE network and the stations that compose it.
  • RSSI, RSRQ, SINR in the coverage area.
  • Analysis of network capacity and individual sectors capacity.
