COVERAGE

This study shows values of the sign imposed by a transmitter, in terms of electrical field or power, in all the points inside the area selected by the user, bearing in mind the model of propagation and the features of the chosen transmitter and receiver.

The necessary parameters to carry out a coverage study are the following ones:

- Name: name which identifies the coverage study.

- Service: Technology selected for the study. Xirio Online, depending on the selection of this parameter, proposes a series of radio parameters, by default, suitable for the calculation to be performed, although there is always the possibility to modify them.

- Band: Frequency band assigned to each radio service. The user can define a lower subband and, optionally, a higher subband. It is also possible to introduce a set of limitations on the use of certain frequencies in the band.

- Description: Comments or information the user wants to add more information to provide.

- Transmitter: Transmitting Station of the coverage study. You can modify its parameters (location and radio parameters) by selecting the option . The following link provides more information about the transmitter.

- Parameters of reception: The receiver of the coverage only contains radio parameters of the receiver. It does not have a geographical fixed location but the reception of the sign is analyzed with this equipment configuration in all the pixels of the area of coverage. That's why, the only element the user will see when consults the result of a coverage in the viewer is the transmitter.

- Compute method: Algorithms to be used in the calculation of propagation losses. It can be modified by selecting the option . The following link provides more information about the compute method.

- Cartographic layers: This is a list of cartographic layers to be used in the calculation. To add or remove layers of the study you need to access the management window of cartography through the option . The following link provides more information about the cartographic layers.

- Calculation Area: Geographical area in which you want to perform calculations and on which the results will be obtained. The following link provides more information about the calculation area of a coverage.

- Signal ranges: Range of colors that identify the signal level in the visualization of results. The following link provides more information about the signal ranges.

All the fields are automatically loaded with predefined values, when the service is selected in the study, with suitable values for the type of simulation to be performed. These parameters can be modifiable. There are two exceptions: the transmitter and the area, which have to be defined for the user because these are particular values of each simulation.

Specific parameters for 3G and 4G mobile technologies

Due to their technological characteristics, coverage studies in 3G and 4G mobile technologies require a number of specific parameters. These parameters only appear in the Coverage properties window of the coverage when selecting one of these technologies:

- 3G technologies (HSDPA / HSUPA): In the case of a 3rd generation (HSDPA or HSUPA) coverage study the following parameters will be available in the "Calculation parameters" section.

- 3G technologies (UMTS / DCMA2000): In the case of a 3rd generation (LTE or DCMA2000) coverage study the following parameters will be available in the "Calculation parameters" section.

   - Path type: The user can select whether to simulate the uplink path or downlink path.

   - 3G parameters: Set of parameters that influence the signal propagation of these services. The details of these parameters can be found in the following link.

- 4G technologies (LTE): If the service of the coverage study is a 4th generation mobile service, the specific parameters will be available in the parameters of the sector and the mobile terminal.

COVERAGE STUDY ACTIONS

You can access the following options from the actions panel of the coverage study :

- Modify study. From this option, you access the coverage configuration window.

- Center viewer on study. Locates the selected coverage on the Xirio Online viewer.

- Define compute area. This option allows to define the compute area of coverage directly over the Xirio Online viewer.

- Free low-resolution calculation . This option performs a free calculation of the selected study. This type of calculation has some limitations. The following link provides more information about the free calculations on Xirio Online.

- High-resolution calculation . This option performs a high-resolution calculation of the selected study. A window appears detailing the calculation cost and the cartography before starting. The following link provides more information about payment calculations on Xirio Online.

- Coverage statistics calculation . It's a detailed report with information about the covered population and area percentages. The following link provides more information about this type of calculations on Xirio Online.

- Delete study. Deletes the selected study, with all the radio elements, from the user's account.

- Close study. Closes the selected study and removes its result from the viewer.

COVERAGE RESULT

The result obtained on the calculation of coverage is the signal level at each point.

The result of the coverage study has the associated action "to read value in a point ", that allows to obtain the sign level in a location by selecting it in the viewer. The sign value will be showed in a window of information .
